Six Month Smiles
Six Month Smiles is an orthodontic treatment that makes use of clear brackets and tooth-colored nickel-titanium wires to straighten the lower and upper front teeth in an average time duration of six months; although treatment times vary depending on individual cases of misalignment.
Six Month Smiles can be used to correct a variety of orthodontic issues using a combination of low-movement forces and short overall treatment time. The procedure focuses on increased safety, oral hygiene and comfort for patients, making them a preferred form of treatment for people who wish to straighten their teeth but do not require any complex changes to their bite.
This short term orthodontic treatment is ideal for treating numerous misalignment problems, such as intrusions, rotations, extrusions, and tipping. It also is appropriate for problems in the front teeth, including:
- Open bites and overbites
- Spacing and diastemas
- Overlapping and crowded teeth
- Reverse smile lines
- Asymmetry and canted midlines
During your initial visit to our office, we will perform a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health, gums, and teeth, to determine if you are a candidate for Six Month Smiles. Once we determine that Six-Month Smiles are a suitable form of treatment for you, we will send impressions of your teeth to a Six-Month Smiles laboratory to calculate the precise tooth movement necessary to attain the desired results on your front teeth, as well as where the tooth-colored wires and clear brackets should be placed.
During your next visit, we will fit the clear brackets and tooth-colored arch wires on your teeth using bonding adhesive. The brackets come precisely positioned inside a custom-fabricated tray that enables them to be put exactly where they need to be on your teeth. The adhesive is hardened using a special light to make sure that the brackets are secure. After this, the tooth-colored arch wires are attached and adjusted to ensure proper tooth movement. We will schedule regular follow-up visits to keep track of the progress of the treatment.
